The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said the forecast models predict that an increase in the number of coronavirus deaths could see the country reach up to 321,000 deaths in the coming weeks.
According to the health agency, the country is expected to reach between 294,000 and 321,000 total coronavirus deaths by December 19. As of Friday, the country had already recorded 263,484 deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University.

The prediction comes as the agency warned Americans against travel to celebrate Thanksgiving with family and friends and to limit gatherings within the household or under 10 years.
