Former President Donald Trump is scheduled to meet with parliamentary minority leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif. On Thursday, ahead of his Senate impeachment trial, Fox News has learned.

The meeting will take place in South Florida just weeks after the Jan.6 Capitol riots that many blamed on Trump and for which he was impeached by the House a week later for “incitement to insurgency.”
In the aftermath, McCarthy opposed Trump’s impeachment but was open to a censorship resolution. But McCarthy more recently expressed concerns about the vote of GOP conference chair Liz Cheney to impeach Trump.
Trump’s trial, the first for a former U.S. president, is scheduled to begin the week of February 8.
