Jota “bitter” about Anfield
Diogo Jota had a rapid start to life at Liverpool since his summer stint from Wolves, but admitted he was “bitter” not yet playing in front of fans at Anfield.
The Portuguese striker has scored six goals in 11 appearances this season, making his way into the starting XI.
But Jota says he would have appreciated more if supporters had been in the stadiums.
“When I first signed at Anfield I was asked how I felt and said that for it to be perfect I had to play in a full stadium to have that even more special feeling”, he said, according to the Echo .
“It’s bitter not being able to feel the atmosphere of Anfield.
“I try not to think of a long future. I came here to do my best, I wasn’t aiming for anything in particular and when it does, there are no disappointments or surprises.
“I’m in one of the best teams in the world, if not the best, so I have to take advantage of it. And going forward, if I’m focused, I know I’ll have plenty of opportunities.
“Liverpool have great players and I came here to be one more and help win titles – mostly because I don’t have as many as they do!”
Premier League concern over complaints
Jurgen Klopp has expressed concerns about the Premier League fixture list this weekend and he is not the only top manager to be upset.
As indicated by the Echo , Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola also spoke in frustration at the eventful lineup and the three-substitute rule.
Trent Alexander-Arnold joined Virgil van Dijk, Fabinho, Thiago Alcantara and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain on the Reds’ injured list this weekend, while Alisson Becker, Joel Matip and Joe Gomez have already missed part of this campaign .
“Everything has changed except for the match list,” Klopp said over the weekend.
“Usually in the season we all have an October, a November and then a very, very delicate December.
“This year, October is like December, November is like December and December is always like December.
“People may like it and think it’s a real competition giving other teams a chance, the only problem is we hurt the players.
“We have to talk about the five submarines again. If 14 teams say it can’t happen, then let’s do five submarines when the first six clash.”
Poor links with Liverpool merger
One of the key figures behind a potential deal between Fenway Sports Group and Red Ball Acquisitions has close ties to Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah.
As the Echo Dr Luke Bornn – described by Red Ball as a “ world leader in sports analysis ” – was in charge of analysis at Serie A Roma between 2016 and 2017.

Dr Bornn now looks likely to work more closely with the Reds in the future, and his work at the Italian club to recognize Salah’s talent and potential bodes well.
Dr Bornn is also the Chief Scientist and co-founder of Zelus Analytics, a company in which Gerry Cardinale – who heads the Red Ball law firm alongside Billy Beane – has a financial interest.
