A debate between Georgia Senator Kelly Loeffler and Democratic challenger Raphael Warnock takes place on December 6 after the Atlanta Press Club (APC) confirmed on Tuesday that both campaigns are engaged in the event.
The debate is scheduled for 7 p.m. and will be broadcast on Georgia Public Broadcasting. Warnock challenged Loeffler, R-Ga., To three debates after the candidates mutually annulled one before the general election. The Loeffler campaign had expressed interest in an APC-facilitated debate during the second round, after she and Warnock participated in a virtual APC-hosted debate in October.
On Monday, Loeffler’s campaign and the APC were still negotiating logistics, but on Tuesday the issues were settled and the debate was confirmed.
“Senator Loeffler is eager to denounce Warnock as the most radically liberal candidate in the country and to hear why he has attacked our police, military, small businesses, Israel and virtually every electoral bloc in the state of Georgia “Stephen Lawson, communications director for the Loeffler campaign, said in a statement to Fox News.

“Heard you’re up for a debate, @Kloeffler,” Warnock said in a tweet. “Suppose that means I will see you on December 6 at the Atlanta Press Club, and twice so that Georgians know who will work for them.”
It is not known if Loeffler will be discussing Warnock at any other time outside of the APC forum.
On the same day as the Loeffler-Warnock debate, the CPA has an event scheduled with Sen. David Perdue, R-Ga., And Democratic challenger Jon Ossoff, although Perdue’s campaign has said he will not participate.
“The second round in Georgia is an extension of the general election of November 3, where 52% of Georgians voted against Jon Ossoff and his radical platform. “I just learned about half an hour ago that he is refusing to appear at the Atlanta Press Club debate,” Ossoff said of Perdue in a campaign rally video posted on his account Monday. Twitter. “If David Perdue doesn’t want to answer questions in public and debate his opponent, that’s fine. He just shouldn’t stand for re-election to the US Senate.”
If Perdue does not show up for the debate on December 6, the APC said it will still host the event with Ossoff, leaving an empty podium to represent the incumbent. An APC spokesperson told Fox News that “we don’t think it’s fair to penalize the candidate who agreed to come.”
The debates will take place less than a month before the two elections which will decide the balance of power in the US Senate.
Republicans after the Nov. 3 election hold 50 Senate seats compared to Democrats’ 48, including the two independents who meet with Democrats.

If Loeffler or Perdue wins re-election, Republicans will hold at least 51 Senate seats in the next Congress and will significantly control much of President-elect Joe Biden’s agenda.
But if Democrats manage to sweep the races, Ossoff and Warnock will take the Senate to an effective 50-50 draw, giving Vice President-elect Kamala Harris the chance to vote to break the tie when issues fall within the party’s purview. .
