The opening scene of Loki Episode 6 featured some of the most notable shots from the entire series, taking fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe on a journey through the multiverse. Including nods to a handful of previous Marvel properties, the footage gave fans a boost as the camera rocked audiences from world to world and timeline to timeline. With one shot in particular, fans are still buzzing with the presence of a mysterious spaceship.

According to Loki At the helm Kate Herron, Marvel fans should recognize the mysterious contraption.

“So I would say, for the spaceship, that was a fun Marvel nod,” Herron said recently. CinemaBlend. “We had a tribute to Contact, but I was like, ‘Okay, how do we get some more MCU flavor?’ So it was sort of choosing … I’d say if people look at the ship, they’ll recognize it. This has been in a few things. [Laughs.]”

This tribute to Contact, of course, was the reference to two black holes that switched fans between realities.

“And the black holes came out of … I was working with the storyboard artist, Darrin [Denlinger], and I think for us it was just a case of ‘The touchdown is really cool,’ “Herron added.” And like, I think it was originally Eric [Martin] wrote the idea of us moving through space until the end of time, which I thought was awesome. And then me and Darrin, we were like, ‘Okay, let’s play with time in this actual streak, and how do we do that?’ And I think that’s where the two black holes come from. “

As for the spacecraft itself, there isn’t really a clear indicator of what it is, although it is “in a few things.” As with most theories you can find online, some suggest it’s the Fantastic Four trapped in space. Others think it is a Quinjet or a Milano carrying heroes in space.
