Long Shot: Charlize Theron and Seth Rogen in their new big comedy

With the director Jonathan Levine's Long Shot opening this weekend in theaters, I recently sat with Charlize Theron and Seth Rogen to talk about making their comedy extremely funny. During a short but amusing interview, they talked about their first meeting on the project, if they were nervous, how the tone of the film had changed in the editing room, why film the scene of Karaoke opening (which was finally removed) was "traumatic" for Theron, and more.

If you have not seen the great trailers for Long Shot, the movie is written by Liz Hannah (The post office) and Dan Sterling (Office) and follows the unlikely romance between a hard-hitting political journalist (Seth Rogen) and his first crush (Charlize Theron), who happens to be the current US Secretary of State and plans to run for president. The film also has stars Bob Odenkirk, Alexander Skarsgard, Andy Serkis, Randall Park, O Shea Jackson Jr., June Diane Raphael, and Ravi Patel.

Here is the official synopsis for Long Shot:

Fred Flarsky (Seth Rogen) is a talented, open-minded journalist who loves problems. Charlotte Field (Charlize Theron) is one of the most influential women in the world. Intelligent, sophisticated and accomplished, she is a powerful diplomat with a talent for … well, almost everything. The two have nothing in common, so it was that she was her babysitter and a crush on her childhood. When Fred unexpectedly renews with Charlotte, he seduces her with her self-cherishing humor and the memory of her youthful idealism. As she prepares to run for president, Charlotte engages Fred as a speechwriter, much to the dismay of her trusted advisers. Fish out of the water in Charlotte's elite team, Fred is not prepared for his glamorous lifestyle.
