Longtime Britney Spears manager Larry Rudolph has officially stepped down as rumors of the singer’s retirement continue to swirl amid her ongoing battle for guardianship.
The resignation comes days after co-curator Bessemer Trust also left ship to oversee and help the artist’s career and finances after a judge rejected his request to remove his father, Jamie, from being conservative and to dissolve a legal arrangement they had established in 2008.
In a letter to Jamie Spears and court-appointed Jodi Montgomery on Monday, Deadline reports that Rudolph has officially tendered his resignation. Rudolph has been Britney’s manager for most of her career, including her rise to the top in the mid-1990s.
“It was over two and a half years since Britney and I last communicated, when she informed me that she wanted to take an indefinite break from work,” Rudolph wrote. “Earlier today I learned that Britney has expressed her intention to officially retire.”

The letter continues: “As you know, I was never a part of the Guardianship or its operations, so I’m not aware of many of these details. I was originally hired at Britney’s request. to help him manage and assist him in his career. And as a manager, I think it is in Britney’s best interests that I resign from her team as my professional services are no longer required. “

The Hollywood Reporter notes that Spears was first introduced to Rudolph at age 13 in 1995. They worked together to secure his first recording contract with Jive Records two years later. years. They separated in 2004, but reunited in 2007 at the behest of Spears’ father, Jamie.
Although Rudolph was not named directly, Spears had previously told the court that his father, and those like Rudolph who allowed him to become guardianship over the years, “should be in jail.”

In her 24-minute address to court in June, the star claimed her father “liked” the control he had over her through “abusive” guardianship. Spears has requested that his statements in a Los Angeles courtroom be shared publicly.
