Look at the details of Ford Why is the Shelby GT350 2019 so good?

The Shelby GT350 Mustang has not changed much since Ford introduced it for the 2015 model year. It debuted alongside the sixth-generation Mustang for its 50th anniversary. However, for 2019, Ford introduced several minor updates to the GT350, improving handling and aerodynamics. In the video above, Derek Bier, Automotive Engineering Manager at Ford, describes all the small changes made by the automaker to strengthen the GT350, and many of these changes are due to the development of the GT500.

One of the most noticeable changes is the rear wing / spoiler. It's the same room as the entry-level GT500, allowing airflow both below and above, providing more support. The video's GT350 video includes an optional handling package that adds a gurney flap to the spoiler / wing, creating even more support. At the front, there is a heat extractor on the hood; however, this causes some elevation of the front end To compensate, engineers have reduced the opening of the grid by lowering the upper lip.

To account for the additional support force, Ford has relaxed the rear springs, stiffened the fronts and added a larger stabilizer bar. This helps the GT350 put more power on the road. They also reinstated the MagneRide suspension. With the GT350 now putting more power on the rear wheels, Ford increases the rear braking power. As a general rule, the rear tires may slip during braking and rotation. However, Ford compensated for this, allowing the driver to use the rear brakes to enter the turn and turn the vehicle around the corner.

These improvements help make the GT350 a more agile and powerful car, even though the 5.2-liter V8 has not changed. It produces the same 526 horsepower (392 kilowatts) and a torque of 429 lb-ft (581 Newton-meters). The GT350 is not supposed to be a crazy sports car racing supercar performance, it's the role of the 2020 GT500. What the GT350 is supposed to do is dominate the race track, and these upgrades should help achieve this mission.
