Looks like we won’t have a new Guilty Gear Strive DLC character this month, so when should we expect Fighter # 3?

Many players, including ourselves, thought that Guilty Gear Strive would receive its third DLC character at some point in October, but it looks like it won’t be after all.

After the lack of a trailer at the Tokyo Game Show and this week’s new post in the developer’s backyard, those odds seem pretty slim now, so when should we keep our eyes peeled for the announcement and the release date of fighter number three?

Arc System Works has confirmed that the big update coming this Friday, October 15 will only include a new balancing fix.

“While this update only adjusts the balance of the game, the team is working hard on the next character right now, so please wait for the next announcement,” director Akira Katano wrote.

If ArcSys were to release a new fighter this month, there’s no reason they shouldn’t delay updating the balance for a few more weeks to avoid the extra testing and compliance checks that cost them. both time and money.

All we know for sure is that the third fighter DLC will launch before the end of 2021, although we can use Goldlewis, Jack-O and the upcoming events to try to narrow that window down a bit.

The Absolute Defense Secretary received his trailer on July 21 and launched less than a week later on July 27.

A few weeks later, the trailer for Jack-O dropped on August 15, and it was released 12 days later, on August 27.

So these are two characters released on the 27th of their given month, but the first was on a Tuesday and the other on a Friday.

Using that timeline, we now think the most likely release window for Strive’s last DLC character of the year will be between November 22-26.

There are going to be a few events going on by then which would be great opportunities to release a trailer with ArcRevo 2021 which kicks off later this month.

The first EMEA ArcRevo qualifier is scheduled to take place on October 31, while the second will take place three weeks later on November 21.

We’ve already seen ArcSys reveal a character during a tournament with Jack-O at Evo Online 2021, so they’re certainly not averse to using their events for announcements.

Considering Goldlewis launched less than a week after its reveal trailer, we probably would have put our money’s worth on that qualifier for November being the best shot to see the next character.

If that doesn’t happen, we might be considering a late Christmas giveaway from ArcSys in December.

Either way, we’ll probably wait a bit longer to see how Strive’s roster grows next.
