Howard Shore, the Oscar-winning composer behind Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings films, is reportedly in talks to return to Middle-earth for the new Amazon series.
As Deadline reported, this would surely be a much-appreciated addition for fans of the films, as neither Peter Jackson nor the original cast members are known to join the project. Shore won three Oscars for his work The Lord of the Rings, including Best Original Music for The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring and The Return of the King and Best Original Song Award for “Into the West “.
Shore’s awesome credits also include The Hobbit trilogy, The Departed, The Aviator, Dogma, Mrs. Doubtfire, The Silence of the Lambs, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, and many more.
The new untitled Amazon series set around the world and created by JRR Tolkien has already completed the principal photography for the first season and is scheduled to air on Amazon Prime Video on September 2, 2022. The first season is said to have cost $ 465 million, this that makes it the most expensive television series to date.
While we’ve only seen one image from the series so far, Amazon has given fans in Middle-earth the plot synopsis to help with the wait;
“The new epic drama brings the legendary story of the Second Age of Middle-earth to screens for the very first time by JRR Tolkien. Beginning in a time of relative peace, thousands of years before the events of JRR Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings books, the series follows a set of characters, both familiar and new, as they face off against the formidable re-emergence of evil in Middle-earth.
While we know this series will be returning for season two, news broke recently that production on the series will move from New Zealand to the UK.
