The publisher CI Games has abandoned Defiant Studios as a developer of The lords of the dead 2announced the company. Defiant Studios was announced to develop the suite in June 2018.
"The termination of the agreement was submitted due to inadequate execution by Defiant [of] a key step (step 11), a so-called vertical slice, "said CI Games in a Polish press release translated by Eurogamer. "The quality of work has been lower than the expectations of the company, as is precisely described in the agreement, despite three calls to improve the quality of this stage of work."
Defiant Studios does not agree with the representation of the studio by CI Games.
"We totally disagree with CI Games' performance of Defiant Studios," said David Grijns, founder and CEO of Defiant Studios, at Eurogamer. "The team working on the CI Games project was made up of extremely talented developers, whose work we fully support. Our team knows how to create quality games, as shown by their key role in Just cause 3, Call of Duty: Advanced War, Far Cry 5, Devil can cry (DMC) and many other leading projects. "
Grijns added: "Since we intend to respect our contractual obligations regarding confidentiality, we can not for the moment expand further on this subject."
CI Games did not share additional information regarding future plans for The lords of the dead 2.
