Civil rights activists marched through a Los Angeles police station over the weekend to call for the arrest of “Soho Karen,” the woman who falsely accused a black teenage girl of stealing her cell phone in Manhattan on last month.
Protesters gathered outside the LAPD North Hollywood Police Station on Saturday to demand the arrest of Miya Ponsetto, who had been sleeping in California since the Dec.26 incident, according to ABC-7 from New York.
Ponsetto went viral infamy when video appeared of her playing with 14-year-old Keyon Harrold Jr. in the lobby of the Arlo Hotel in Soho.
The 22-year-old accused Harrold Jr. of slipping his iPhone and having a physical argument with the teenager, video of the break-in shows.
An Uber driver then entered the hotel lobby to return Ponsetto’s phone, said the boy’s father, Harrold Sr., a jazz trumpeter.
NYPD leaders have signaled that charges would be laid against Ponsetto in the incident, which Mayor Bill de Blasio called “outright” racism.
Police officials described Ponsetto as white, as she told a freelance Post photographer who found her at a McDonald’s in California last week that she was Puerto Rican.
