A 60-year-old deputy lawyer, along with his wife and adult son, were killed on Wednesday in what the authorities are likely to call suicide murder.

At approximately 9:15 am, the Los Angeles Police Department received a call for a "family disruption" in the Northridge suburb of the 9600 block of Vanalden Avenue and found that three people had been shot dead, said Christopher LAPD officer, No.

The detectives recovered two firearms from the scene.

Wednesday afternoon, Los Angeles City Atty. Mike Feuer's office issued a statement confirming that Deputy City Atty. Eric Lertzman, who joined the office in 2005, was involved in the incident.

"It's a horrible tragedy," Feuer said in his release. "As we seek solutions to this problem, we mourn the victims and envelop those who remain of our love during this period of unbearable loss. Of course, we will provide our family of lawyers in the city with the advice and support they need. "

The dead included Sandra, Lertzman's wife, 60, and his 19-year-old son, Michael, whose authorities reported the death, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office. Police reported Eric Lertzman's death as a suicide.

Neighbors told KABC-TV Channel 7 that a father had shot his wife and son, but that his daughter had managed to escape by the window of a bathroom and call the police.

Neighbor Greg Demos told KTLA-TV Channel 5 that the woman had run to his house in his pajamas and said that his father had tried to shoot him.

Police confirmed that a woman had managed to escape the house.
