Los Angeles Rams without both punters for preseason game against Las Vegas Raiders

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif .– The Los Angeles Rams put punters Johnny Hekker and Corey Bojorquez on the reserve / COVID-19 list, the team announced on Saturday.

That leaves the Rams with no punter on the roster for a Week 2 preseason game against the Las Vegas Raiders on Saturday night at SoFi Stadium.

The Rams did not immediately announce who could serve as the reserve bettor.

For the fourth year in a row, Rams coach Sean McVay has opted out of playing the preseason starters, and this year he’s gone further, putting several key reserves to rest as well.

Quarterbacks Matthew Stafford and substitute John Wolford will not play against Las Vegas.

It’s possible McVay could test the back-up quarterbacks Bryce Perkins and Devlin Hodges fourth-down abilities without a punter.

A fourth-year pro signed in the offseason, Bojorquez challenged four-time All-Pro Hekker for the job.

Both kicked twice in a 13-6 preseason loss to the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 1. Hekker averaged 45.5 yards per punt and Bojorquez averaged 43.
