The researchers located Joshua McClatchy, 38, of Fort Worth, in the Ouachita National Forest, after a National Guard helicopter saw her flashlight, reported CNN's affiliate, KTRK. It was found about 105 miles southwest of Little Rock.
McClatchy's sister, Miranda Balduf, said that a team of "heroic" search and rescue agents had taken turns taking him out of the area.
"He's fine," Balduf said. "He is recovering from his dehydration, he is really good"
McClatchy was hiking on the Buckeye Trail on June 1 in the wilderness area of Caney Creek, in southwest Arkansas, when he texted his mother to let him know that he was lost.
The hiker was located around 10:30. Friday and made safe around 3am on Saturday, said a message posted by a Facebook group on Facebook.
"This country is anything but flat. It was spectacular to see lighthouses approaching the dark distance, then to see Josh's face embodied by the strongest men and women," writes Balduf in a message published Saturday morning after the discovery of his brother.
Rescuers took about 21 miles to recover McClatchy, Balduf said.
McClatchy was taken to the Mena Regional Health System, where he is recovering from his weakness and dehydration. According to Max Obeidin, McClatchy's roommate's brother, he did not drink water for a few days.
The Polk County Sheriff's Office used drones, bloodhounds and mobile phone data to determine where McClatchy might be, Balduf said in a message.
A GoFundMe for its search and rescue activities generated more than $ 11,000.
