Louisville AD Vince Tyra issues statement on Scott Satterfield situation

It’s been a long and confusing day for fans of the Louisville football program, and now we have an official statement on the situation from athletic director Cardinal Vince Tyra.

Here is what Tyra said Cameron Teague Robinson of the Courier Journal – who deserves some major props to be on top of this story all day:

“Scott and I spoke earlier today and he assured me he is moving forward as head football coach. I am as pleased with Scott’s capabilities today as the day we hired him. We have invested heavily in our facilities, our people and the fan experience to put our program in a position of lasting success.

As a longtime and current AD fan in Louisville, I understand the story behind our fan’s trust issue with football coaches. Well Named. I’m disappointed Scott had a conversation with another program, but I’m sure we have a nice path to follow.

It’s about as close to saying “I’m not mad, I’m just disappointed” as you can get without saying it.

Also, well done Tyra for winking at the fans and acknowledging why this could be especially difficult for a group that has been abandoned as many times as the supporters of Cardinal football.

What a mess.
