The Tampa Bay Lightning is the favorite to win the Stanley Cup, according to the ratings of the Westgate Las Vegas Superbook before the playoffs. The Lightning enters the playoffs at 2-1 after finishing the regular season with 21 points ahead of the team closest to the league's final standings.

The 62 victories at Tampa Bay tied the Detroit Red Wings in 1995-96 for the most in a season by an NHL team.

The Calgary Flames, who finished with the best record in the Western Conference, and last year's Stanley Cup finalist Golden Bowles, qualify for the playoffs with the best rating at 10-1. The reigning Stanley Cup champion, Washington Capitals, will open with a 12-1 rating to repeat.
