Ikea is offering meatball scented candles as a prize as part of a raffle for members of the “Ikea Family” loyalty club to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the free loyalty program. Ikea hopes that hanging the candles will inspire other customers to sign up for a loyalty card, which offers members rewards and other perks.

Ikea says 1,925 lucky winners will be able to claim one of the Huvudroll Meatball Candles and let the sweet scent of the meatballs waft through their homes. The event will run until August 22.

Earlier in the pandemic, when stores closed, the Swedish company shared its recipe for meatballs that customers can make at home (hint: it’s all about cream sauce).

“Staying at home can be difficult, but we want to help make everyone’s life a little easier and more enjoyable. Bon appétit or, smaklig måltid, as they say in Sweden! Said the company.

In 2019, Ikea said it was working on a plant-based meatball that “looks and tastes like meat but is made from alternative plant-based proteins. Ikea said it wants to sell the meatballs from plant-based meat in all of its restaurants around the world.
Ikea’s meatballs have been around since 1985, according to the company. He sells over a billion each year.
“It’s hard to do business with someone on an empty stomach,” said Ikea founder Ingvar Kamprad, who died in 2018, explaining why the company decided to open restaurants in stores.
