LSU students made it clear where they were in the Will Wade saga before Saturday's basketball game against Vanderbilt.
From the moment they sat down at the Pete Maravich Rally Center, students raised various signs to support Head Coach Will Wade and first-year goaltender Javonte Smart. Songs of "Free Will Wade" also began 30 minutes before the start of the match, as fans were still preparing and the players were getting ready.

But the most remarkable reaction of the rowdy crowd occurred when LSU sporting director Joe Avella entered the PMAC chorus and announced that "Joe must go!" songs.

The reaction was caused by the suspension of Wade's team Friday after it had refused to meet with university officials about comments about an offer made to a rookie that he allegedly made during a phone-tapped telephone conversation with an intermediary recognized by the federal government.
Smart is the player in question in Wade's comments and is absent from Saturday's match "as a precaution and due to lack of clarity regarding media reports and reported phone tapping involving head coach Will Wade" said LSU officials in a statement Saturday morning.
The Tigers also do not have freshman striker Naz Reid for the game, who is marginalized by injuries sustained late Wednesday at the end of LSU's 79-78 overtime win over Florida .
