Lucifer resurrect … one last time. TVLine has learned exclusively that Fox's drama become Netflix has been renewed for a fifth and final season. The fourth season of the show, released May 8, received an average rating of "A" from TVLine's readers.
The number of episodes in season 5 is to be determined.
"We are extremely grateful to Netflix for resurrecting our show last season and letting us end the story of Lucifer on our terms," reads a statement by co-hosts Joe Henderson and Ildy Modrovich. "More importantly, we want to thank the fans for their incredible passion and support. The best is yet to come!"
Last month, when TVLine interviewed the series' leaders about the renewal schedule, they hoped to have the right word at the beginning of June. As Henderson pointed out, "Fan support is extremely important, and in particular [the first] months is going to be crucial to find out if we're getting a season 5 or not because they [at Netflix] pay attention. Until now, the fan support has been amazing: everything you can ask for. "
"I mean, holy shit. It's just great, "added Modrovich. "I do not know if I could deal with it when bad reviews have arrived or something like that, because I feel so spoiled and grateful right now."
After spending three seasons on Fox, Lucifer was "saved" by Netflix just weeks after it was canceled. The final, without spoiling anything for you inexcusably late bingers there, was both a treat and a mockery to the followers of "DeckerStar", raising big questions about how the series will go from front to where it stopped.
The showrunners told TVLine that they knew the opening sequence of Season 5 "literally since the start of Season 4," and Moldrovich added: Season 5 is so exciting, too. "
