Inter Milan striker Romelu Lukaku is due to undergo his medical examination in Belgium on Sunday before his € 115million transfer to Chelsea.

Athleticism understands that 28-year-old Lukaku would then have to arrive in London within 24 hours.

On Saturday, Athleticism reported that Chelsea have reached a record deal worth € 115million (£ 97.5million) to re-sign Lukaku.

The Belgium international, who was at Stamford Bridge between 2011-14, is expected to sign a five-year contract with a net worth of around 12-13 million euros a year (around £ 195,000 a week after tax). This will make him the biggest salary at Stamford Bridge.

Athleticism As reported yesterday, talks between the two clubs intensified on Friday with Chelsea aiming to include fringe players to reduce the sum at stake, while Inter Milan hoped to exceed £ 100million.

Chelsea were determined to complete the switch by Sunday night to ensure Lukaku is ready to start the Premier League season and a compromise has been found.

Both sides will be satisfied with the way the negotiations went. Chelsea have managed to keep the fees below £ 100million, while Inter Milan will receive the total in cash. It is understood that Manchester United are also on the verge of pocketing around € 4million from the deal due to a sell-out clause from the time Lukaku left Old Trafford in 2019. The deal was for a percentage of the total selling costs, as opposed to just profit.
