Luke Evans will play ANOTHER Disney villain as he lands a role in live-action Pinocchio … after playing Gaston in Beauty and the Beast

And now, Luke Evans will be back in shape, having landed the role of villainous Coachman in the upcoming Disney live-action remake of Pinocchio.
The Hobbit actor, 41, will join the Disney + movie that Tom Hanks is already attached to as Geppetto, reports Deadline.

The cast comes after Evans portrayed the famous selfish, navel-loving Gaston in the 2017 Beauty and the Beast remake starring Emma Watson and Dan Stevens.
This film crossed the billion dollar mark at the global box office, ushering in a new era for the House of the Mouse by rehashing its vault of animated classics.
The Lion King and Aladdin have also been redesigned in live action, and they’ve also crossed the billion dollar mark.

The new Pinocchio, which will be directed by Forrest Gump’s coxswain Robert Zemeckis, will go straight to the Disney + streaming platform, unlike the aforementioned predecessors who enjoyed large theatrical arcs.
Like the animated classic from 1940, Pinocchio will explore the story of an enchanted puppet who aspires to become a real boy.
Evans’ Coachman will be one of many antagonists who attempt to harm and exploit Pinocchio for their own personal gain.

Disney’s live action on the story is just one of many Pinocchio projects currently in production or recently released.
One is the highly anticipated dark version of the story co-directed by visionary filmmaker Guillermo Del Toro, and starring Cate Blanchett, Ewan McGregor and Tilda Swinton.
This film is finished and should be released this year.

Originally an Italian fairy tale, Oscar winner Roberto Benigni also recently released a live version of the story, which was his second time.
In his last film Pinocchio released last Christmas, Benigni played Geppetto, while in the version he produced in 2002 he played Pinocchio himself.
