The daughter of the late actor Luke Perry of Riverdale fought back against the people who criticized her grieving process.
Sophie Perry explained on Instagram that she had "received a lot of attention online" after her father's death.
"Yes, I am hurt, sad and in tears, not to mention what happened to my father," she wrote.
"But I will not sit in my room and cry day after day until the Internet thinks it's appropriate for me to do otherwise," she continued.
"And if you knew my father, you would know that he would not want me to know it, so you should not either."
The American actor died in California at the age of 52, less than a week after suffering a severe stroke.
Perry became known for playing Dylan McKay in Beverly Hills, in 90210, and conquered a new generation of fans through his role as Fred Andrews on Netdale River Riverdale.

Her 18-year-old daughter also stated that she "had not asked for this attention" and did not "meet the needs and beliefs of someone else".
She added, "For those who make me ashamed of my tongue and wardrobe and, most disgustingly, my mourning process, do us the favor and do not follow anything."
Sophie Perry was in Malawi shortly before her father's death and "came back just in time" to be with her family.
A few days after her father's mourning on Instagram, Sophie congratulated her mother, Minnie Sharp, on the occasion of International Women's Day.
She called her mother "the stone for everyone in mourning in this family" and "the hardest and sweetest and most amazing woman".
Sharp, who played Emily in 1987 in the movie Teen Wolf Too, married the actor Riverdale in 1993. They had two children, Jack and Sophie, and separated in 2003.
