Lynyrd Skynyrd withdrew from Pro Football Hall of Fame concert after guitarist Rickey Medlocke tested positive for COVID-19

TOWNSHIP, Ohio – Lynyrd Skynyrd withdrew from the Pro Football Hall of Fame concert after guitarist Rickey Medlocke tested positive for COVID-19.

The country rock group was scheduled to co-lead the Monday night concert with Brad Paisley, but Medlocke’s positive test forced the group’s withdrawal, according to a statement from the group.

“Rickey is resting at home and responding well to treatment,” the statement read.

Jimmie Allen, who was the opening act, expanded his set list to open the show. He performs a duet with Paisley on the current hit “Freedom Was a Highway”.

The group also suspended concerts in Jackson, Mississippi; Atlanta; and Cullman, Alabama, with the August 13 show in Atlanta postponed to October 23.
