In addition, Kuo also suggests that a new MacBook Air with the Apple Silicon chip and a mini-LED display will be launched in 2022, and not next year. Apple is expected to dramatically increase production of mini-LED displays next year, and the primary driver of this display transition will be the MacBook line. New iPad models with mini-LED displays are also expected to be released.

MacRumors accessed Kuo’s latest investor note, which offers revised information on Apple mini-LED display shipments in the coming years. Two MacBook Pro models with mini LED displays and Apple Silicon chip are expected to launch next year, while a redesigned MacBook Air with mini LEDs and Apple Silicon could be released in 2022. The MacBook Air is expected to be a “model. affordable ”, while MacBook Pro models are said to come with anβ€œ all-new form factor ”. Kuo projects MacBook models as the primary driver for the adoption of mini LED panels as they will see faster growth in shipments. In any case, the analyst claims that a new model of iPad with mini-LED display will be launched in the first half of 2021.

TF Securities has also revised its delivery forecast by 350% for 2021 and 450% in 2022. Apple is now expected to ship 10-12 million mini-LED devices next year and 25-28 million mini-LED devices in 2022. Epistar is expected to be the sole supplier of mini-LED displays to Apple.

With an optimistic mini-LED display production scenario, Kuo expects MacBook shipments to grow by 100% to up to 35 million units per year. The 2021 MacBook lineup is also expected to include a few Intel-based models, and a full switch to Apple silicon chips could take more than two years.
