Yes Madonna wanted to disturb the peace during his Tonight show appearance, well, mission accomplished.
The pop icon sat down for what can now be considered one of Jimmy fallonthe most memorable interviews of. During her appearance, which aired on October 7, the artist explained that the novelist and activist James baldwin was a source of inspiration for her Madame X show, now available as a concert film. “One of the things I quote over and over on the show is that ‘the artists are there to disturb the peace’,” she told the late night host. “I hope I disturbed not only your peace this afternoon, but the peace of people while they are watching the show, but I think so in the best possible way.”
Or, as Fallon said, “You’re in big trouble.” Almost like a glowing light bulb, the comment prompted Madonna to suddenly stand up and lie down on Fallon’s desk, pushing away everything in her path. The move sent Fallon into a visible panic. While it’s not clear if this was all planned or impromptu, it went on for quite a while as he took off his suit jacket and attempted to cover it behind.
“No one will see anything, my God!” Madonna joked on the way back to her seat. Except that she pulled up her skirt and faced the audience as she did with a quick, not-so-shy gesture.
