And as of last month, it appears the Good Girls cancellation was at least in part due to complications over the contract, salary and schedule of series actor Manny Montana.

Sources for the show, NBC and Universal Television, have spoken to TV Line following the show’s cancellation, which comes halfway through its fourth season and with five episodes remaining due to air.

An insider noted that Montana, 37, was unwilling to agree to a pay cut for the series, amid a “strained working relationship” with Hendricks, 46.

An NBC source told the outlet that the network “really wanted to bring Good Girls back for one more season to close the story but unfortunately… couldn’t make the finances work.”

The Good Girls production team also hoped they could continue the show’s story with a fifth season, although Deadline reported that NBC didn’t see a way to make things work financially.

Efforts were also made to transfer the series to Netflix, which owns the streaming rights for the series, although they were ultimately unsuccessful.
