MAGA wedding of Michigan couple pays tribute to President Trump

A Michigan couple turns heads around the country with his wedding that used President Trump's slogan, Make America Great Again.

The wedding, which took place on Independence Day at Historic Bowen Mills in the Middleville community in western Michigan, featured the hashtag #MAGAPatriotWedding, said Bride Audra Johnson at MLive.

The most striking aspect was the custom MAGA wedding dress that she wore for the reception.

The day of the wedding celebrated the love of Audra and Jeff with their love of the country and President Donald Trump, she said. But everyone was not favorable.

Audra and Jeff Johnson, of Grand Rapids, were surrounded by friends and family members dressed in red, white and blue during the exchange of greetings on July 4th.

"Everything was red, white and blue," said Audra Johnson.

The details were essential, said Audra Johnson. His nails were painted with American flags. The groomsmen wore ties and red vests, as well as cufflinks stating "Do not walk on me". The bridesmaids wore blue robes. The girls wore white dresses and red, white and blue ribbons. At the reception, each table presented an anti-abortion "anti-abortion" petition. The white cake was decorated with strawberries and blueberries.

Audra Johnson was wearing a traditional white wedding dress for the ceremony. She became a MAGA themed dress by the famous designer Andre Soriano – famous for his Trump dresses – for the reception and some pictures.

The dress is embellished with glittering red letters on the front, featuring "Make America Great Again". The words are underlined with red lines and stars. The mermaid style dress also featured a train adorned with bright red letters indicating "TRUMP".

It was made from a MAGA flag, which was not a breathable fabric for the hot Independence Day, said Audra Johnson.

Jeff Johnson is a veteran of the US Marines and served in the US Army. He wore his marine blues for the ceremony and the reception.

Jeff Johnson served in the US Marines from August 2002 to September 2006 in Twentunine Palms, California. He has served two rounds of combat in Iraq, he told MLive. From February 2007 to February 2011, he served in the US Army and was based in Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

Audra Johnson is captain of the Michigan Heartbeat Coalition, works for West Michigan Patriots for Trump, is a GOP delegate and is a member of the militia.

Almost everyone at the wedding was wearing a MAGA hat for the photos, said Audra Johnson. The only exception was the maid of honor who is Democrat. She wore a plain red hat instead.

"We did what most adults do and compromise," she said. "She was wearing a red hat and I told her, it's perfect."

Before even thinking about the patriotic theme, Jeff Johnson's father told the couple that he would not attend their wedding because they were supporting President Trump, Audra Johnson said. They were engaged in November 2018.

Now that the wedding is national news, people are targeting the couple as well as their friends and family with threats.

"I had to have militia members stay at my house last night," said Audra Johnson.

One of the honor boys, who lives in Arizona, had to contact the police because people were threatening to bomb her house, she said.

"It's really sad when you realize that the gap is so big in this country that we can not even disagree," said Audra Johnson.

She would attend "absolutely" a wedding on the theme of Barack Obama because she does not have to accept to love.

"It was not a political coup, that's what we wanted. It was not to make a political statement, "said Audra Johnson," I want people to realize that this day gathered such a diverse group of people. We do not all have to share our love together, I think that's what people miss. "
