Apple today started selling the MagSafe Duo charger which was announced alongside the new iPhone 12 models in October. Priced at $ 129, the ‌MagSafe‌ Duo offers a ‌MagSafe‌ charging pad for the ‌iPhone 12‌, 12 Pro, 12 Pro Max, and 12 mini, as well as an Apple Watch charger.

Although the accessory was announced in October and is listed as coming soon, it was not clear when it would launch. Orders placed today will be delivered as early as Thursday, December 3 upon dispatch, and it is not yet available for pickup at retail stores.

The ‌MagSafe‌ Duo features a foldable design for easier portability, and it comes with a USB-C to Lightning cable. The Apple Watch charging washer can be used flat, but there is also an option to pop it up to charge the Apple Watch vertically. The ‌MagSafe‌ loading part does not have the same contextual option.

Before purchasing, it should be noted that the ‌MagSafe‌ Duo cannot charge an ‌iPhone 12‌ model at the full power of 15 watts supported by the ‌MagSafe‌ standalone charger. Instead, it’s capable of charging at a maximum of 14W when paired with the correct charger.

Despite the high price, the ‌MagSafe‌ Duo does not come with an AC adapter. When paired with Apple’s 20W USB-C power adapter, it can charge iPhone up to 11W, and when paired with 27W or higher USB-C power adapter, it can charge at 14W mentioned above.

Although designed for ‌iPhone 12‌ models, Apple claims that the ‌MagSafe‌ Duo is compatible with older iPhones, AirPods with wireless charging case, AirPods Pro, and other devices that support Qi-based wireless charging.

(Thanks, Alex!)
