Maine CDC Reports One-Day High Level of COVID-19 Death, New Cases

AUGUSTA, Maine (WABI) – The Maine CDC reported on Tuesday that 12 more Mainers had died from the coronavirus. This is a new one-day record for our state.

Additionally, the Maine CDC is reporting an additional 258 new cases of COVID-19. It is also the highest number of one-day cases in our state since March.

Somerset County reports 5 deaths – a man in his sixties, two men and a woman in his sixties and a man in his sixties.

Four new deaths have occurred in York County – two women and a man in their 70s and a man in their 80s.

Androscoggin reports the death of a woman in her 90s, Franklin County, a man in her 80s.

And Washington County is recording its first coronavirus-related death – a man in his 60s.

This brings the total number of deaths in Maine to 189 since the start of the pandemic.

Overall, there are 10,799 cases.

Of these, 2,378 are considered active.

There are currently 105 Mainers hospitalized with the virus. Of these, 43 are in intensive care and nine on ventilators.

Recoveries now total 8,232, an increase of 246 overnight.

Penobscot County reported the largest increase on Tuesday with 53 new cases.

Cumberland County reports 48 more cases. York County has 43 more cases

Kennebec has 23 additional cases. Androscoggin County reports 20 more.

Oxford County has 21 more cases. There are 11 new cases in Aroostook County.

Hancock is the only one of Maine’s 16 counties not to have recorded any new cases since Monday.
