Major flooding in the Eau Claire district after Saturday’s downpour

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) – A day of heavy rainfall in Eau Claire has resulted in flash flood warnings and problems on roads and in some neighborhoods.

In the Camden Place subdivision off Jeffers Road in Eau Claire, several homes are left partially underwater after residents see their backyards turn into rivers.

“A massive amount of water has passed through our backyard and it is currently flooding through our lower level windows,” said Cassandra Casey, the flooding happened quickly. “We looked out the window and saw massive flooding in the backyard getting closer and closer to our foundations and we immediately called our friends and family, they came and helped put bags of sand on the windows. “

Other homes in the neighborhood found themselves with broken windows and basements full of water. Some residents were even looking for temporary accommodation due to the extensive water damage.

“We had just amazing abundant amounts of rain, it came very quickly,” said Sandy Utpall, one of the many neighbors on Saturday night inspecting the damage and helping others clean up. “We have water in this area, but it never reached the houses. It was probably the most serious we have seen.

Now the neighbors have to wait for the flooding to subside.

Casey says she’s only been home a year and a half. It is not the first time that she has experienced flooding and she hopes to find a long-term solution so that it does not happen again.
