Kota Kinabalu: The management company 1Borneo Sdn Bhd (1BMC), 1Borneo operator Hypermall, strongly denied allegations that one of its agents attempted to bribe Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) at Wisma SESB on 13 July.

1BMC in a statement said that the report of this nature was unfounded and therefore, untenable.

"Throughout the period in question, all transactions and matters relating to the SESB, whether in the form of meetings, negotiations without prejudice or correspondence, were handled by two authorized representatives of 1BMC. Authorized representatives were extremely intrigued by the media coverage of the report filed by the SESB with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) about the attempted bribery by a 1BMC officer, "the statement said.

held liable for any form of misrepresentation by unauthorized representatives other than the two authorized representatives of 1BMC.

"We urge any party dealing with 1BMC to request a letter of authorization for verification purposes before processing them."

Statement says 1BMC is in the middle of bargaining with SBS on Settlement Plan proposed for outstanding invoices and reconnection of electricity supply to 1Borneo Hypermall

"On July 16, 1BMC submitted a final draft settlement plan to SESB. In the event that 1BMC would not be able to reach a settlement with SESB, 1Borneo Hypermall could be forced to close.

"We hope that the above statement clarifies the public's concern over the speculation of an attempted bribery by a 1BMC officer," the statement said.

On Monday, it was reported that an unknown individual allegedly attempted to bribe an SSEB officer in exchange for 1Borneo Hypermall's electricity supply to be reconnected without paying the arrears as requested by SESB.

In a statement issued by SESB, the alleged incident occurred at Wisma SESB on 13 July.

Subsequently, the SBSB officer filed a complaint with MACC at their office here for further investigation.
