During our summer super bike test, Ducati's new Panigale V4 swept the board with incredible maneuverability, braking and styling. But it's the incredible engine that really marked it: a 214-horsepower nuclear engine, backed up by some great electronic driving aids.

Of course, there was a tiny maneuver – Ducati had equipped the Panigale V4 with an 1100 – 1,103 cc engine to be precise. This 10% capacity advantage obviously allowed them to increase their power by 10%, thus outpacing the competition by about 10% … In the same way that Kawasaki had done with his ZX- 636R back in the day, the most powerful engine C might have been a deception on paper, but the man at the Box Hill car park did not care too much.

Now, it was only a matter of time before someone else joined us and Aprilia was the first to jump. The firm Noale had of course an advantage – she already had an 1100 engine – the 1,078cc unit of the Tuono 1100 hypernaked. It has the same basic V-4 configuration at 65 degrees as the RSV4 1000 mass, with only a bore of 81 mm and the same stroke of 52.3 mm. Aprilia says it has 217 horsepower out of its engine in this facility, a huge figure and even more than the Panigale V4.

This performance is controlled by the fabulous electronic set of Aprilia driving aids. It includes everything you need, including roll, pitch and traction control, all accessed via a stunningly colorful TFT LCD dashboard, and useable gear.

On the front of the chassis, the RSV4 Factory 1100 receives the new Brembo Stylema brake calipers presented for the first time on the Panigale V4, as well as the shock absorbers, forks and shock absorbers Öhlins high-end. The wackiest of all, it comes with a set of MotoGP style fairing wings. These produce a speed support force to improve straight-line stability, avoid coasting and help braking.

No word yet on the price and / or availability of the new RSV4 1100 Factory – but we'll post it as soon as we get it!

In addition, Aprilia will still produce a 1000cc RSV4, which will make homologation of the race perfect for WSB and BSB. How long before racing rules develop a little to leave these 1100cc weapons at the door? We just wonder that …
