2019 Lexus RC F GT Spying Shots

Lexus is preparing a more hardcore version of its RC F to fans of the target track.

The car was previewed in 2016 by the RC F GT concept (below), and judging by our spy photos of a prototype the production model will remain close to the concept, at less visually.

Common elements include the exposed carbon fiber reinforced plastic hood, rear wing and carbon-ceramic brake rotors. The carbon elements of the concept reduced the weight by 800 pounds, although we did not anticipate this level of savings on the production model.

Other improvements on the RC F GT concept are likely to go to production The model should also include adjustable suspensions and less restrictive stability and traction control systems.

The prototype also includes the revised head and taillights for a faceted Lexus RC 2019, which suggests that the launch of this RC F will coincide with the arrival of the updated RC.

Unfortunately, there will probably be no extra power. The standard RC F has a 5.0-liter V-8 with 467 horsepower and 389 lb-ft of torque, and this track-based version should present the same thing. Also reported from the standard RC F should be an eight-speed automatic. One of the main differences is probably the improvement of the lubrication and cooling systems, as both features have been adapted to the 2016 RC F GT concept.

Look for a start of RC F GT production at the end of # 39, year or beginning of next season. Potential rivals include the BMW M4 GTS and the Jaguar 8 XE SV Project. Although not yet confirmed, Mercedes-AMG could also join the competition with a Black Series version of its C63 Coupé
