With the recent arrival of super luxury SUV, such as the Bentley Bentayga and the Rolls-Royce Cullinan, Range Rover is preparing for a battle. Land Rover will further increase the fifth-generation Range Rover in 2021 to keep it ahead of rivals.
After Coach the 2021 Range Rover will move to a new platform, which makes it considerably lighter than the current model. The new aluminum platform, called Modular Longitudinal Architecture (MLA), will eventually be used by all future Jaguar Land Rover models. The lighter platform will also help lighten some of the extra weight that will be added by the batteries for future electric and hybrid models.
Although the MLA platform can adapt to an electrified powertrain, it is reported that the next Range Rover will not initially be offered with a fully electric version. It is said that Land Rover wants the first fully electric Range Rover to be a standalone model
Even with the new platform, do not expect the new generation Range Rover to look too different. The next Range Rover should get a scalable overhaul. Even its exterior dimensions will remain about the same as those of the current model.
The Range Rover will not only be more luxurious, but Land Rover will also update its technical features. The next Range Rover will benefit from a new version of the Touch Pro Duo system and Smart Settings 'self-learning' technology recently added to the Jaguar E-Pace. One can also expect that autonomous driving technology is also proposed.
