MIRI: Police have identified 60,000 outstanding summonses that have not been settled since 10 years ago which involved Brunei-registered vehicles, says Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department head Supt Alexson Naga Chabu.
He said an operation would be conducted beginning this Friday to find the vehicles concerned.
“The three-day operation will be conducted at the Malaysia-Brunei border at the Sungai Tujuh Toll, on both exits,” he said in a statement.
Alexson said the operation would be conducted to get foreign traffic offenders to pay their compound fines before leaving the country, as well as to instil awareness among foreign nationals to comply with traffic rules and regulations while in the state and to avoid road accidents involving foreign citizens.
Foreign citizens, especially from Brunei, who have been in Sarawak are advised to check the records on their outstanding traffic summonses at any traffic police stations in the state, he added. — Bernama
