Terengganu will pay RM3.2 billion for 6 projects

TERENGGANU: Six projects costing RM 3.2 billion were implemented by the previous government in Terengganu as part of the public-private partnership, said Mamad Puteh, president Public Infrastructure, Utilities and Green Technologies Committee. ] He said today at the state assembly in Terengganu that two payment methods were used – the deferred payment and the scheduled payment – for the six projects. They are for the period from 2016 to 2032.

The projects are the water treatment plant of Bukit Sah, Kemaman, whose cost is RM 686.87 million payable in six years; the water supply system of Kuala Terengganu Utara (RM1.3 billion – 13 years); the Kuala Nerus District Administrative Center (RM 600 million – eight and a half years); the estuary of the Terengganu River (RM 90.24 million – five years); the State Sports Council Hostel (95.49 million RM – five years) and the development of Phase II of Bandar Baru Kijal in Kemaman (RM 250 million – five years)

Payments in 2016 and 2017 were RM 70 million per year, while the amount due for 2018 is RM101.2 million, Mamad said.

He said that the state government should pay RM290.8 million for 2019, RM348.1 million (2020), RM382.2 million (2021), RM371.4 million (2022), RM339. 6 million (2023) and RM248.1 million (2024).

He said that a total amount of RM761.6 million should be paid between 2025 and 2031, adding that the latest state government payment of RM45.3 million would be in 2032.
