KOTA KINABALU: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Shafie Apdal, said that the state government is planning to reactivate the special committee created by the previous government to claim 40 percent of the net income collected by the government federal.

In his address to the state assembly, Shafie said that the state government will continue to pursue negotiations with the federal government on this, as it was stated in the 14th manifests the general elections of the party

. his officials from the Ministry of Finance informed him of the special committee that had been set up to study the issue and serve as a platform for the two governments to discuss the claim.

In addition, he said, the government considers it appropriate and will reactivate it to allow negotiations between the two parties to continue.

He also said that the establishment of the three ministries, namely the Ministry of Health and Welfare of People; Ministry of Education and Innovation; The Ministry of Justice and Indigenous Affairs was needed even if it would incur additional expenses for the state government.

In recognition of additional financial commitments, he indicated that efforts would be made to improve revenue collection and the financial situation of the Sabah Government.

The Chief Minister also spoke of the government's intention to reach a high performing public service, which involves organizational restructuring. In this regard, he said that the state government will implement a cautious policy to fill posts and control the increase of posts to ensure the optimal size of the state's public service while at the same time.
