It is rumored that Huawei's next flagship smartphone, the Mate 20 Pro, could feature a double-edged curved OLED display. The rumor comes from information that was transmitted by the South Korean publication ET News. Rumor has it that the Chinese company BOE will be the leading provider of flexible OLED panels in view of launching "strategic smartphones to come" in the second half of this year.
This news also goes against a previous report regarding the possibility of the Chinese company using the Samsung OLED screen. This is a bit of a surprise, especially when we remember that Samsung and LG have long been the dominant players in the OLED display market on smartphones.
BOE is a company that mainly produces LCDs, and even though it is not. expert in the production of OLED screens as the two Korean giants, the company is known for the production of a small amount of OLED screens for other smartphone companies in China.
If the launch is not over yet Mate 20 Pro will indeed come with a curved OLED screen, it would not be Huawei's first smartphone to sport such a screen. This honor goes to the Porsche Design Mate RS which was launched alongside the P20 Pro and P20 earlier this year. Again, this news is simple, so it's best to take this news with a pinch of salt until Huawei makes an official announcement.
