Zlatan Ibrahimovic revealed that he had offered to play free Manchester United on his return from a major knee injury.
Ibrahimovic had a great first season with the Red Devils, scoring 28 goals in all competitions. He improved when he was not injured in the cruciate ligament of his right knee in a quarterfinal of the Europa League against Anderlecht in April 2017.
Despite injury, United chose Ibrahimovic for a one year contract.
However, the 36-year-old struggled to have the same impact as the Red Devils agreed to release him from his contract in March to join LA Galaxy.
In an interview with the BBC, Ibrahimovic admitted that he realized on his return that he could no longer have the same impact and had advised José Mourinho not to picking it as well as offering to play for free
said: "The situation was not having a contract and earning money – it was the opposite. I said, "I do not want a salary, you keep it."
"When I was ready, I thought," I'm not here. "They had a Zlatan before Afterwards, I was not ready to be this Zlatan.I was selected in many matches, but I told the coach: "Listen, I'm not ready I do not want to disappoint you.
"The respect I have for my teammates and the coach. Select someone else who can do the job better. I got up and I did it, even though I'm Zlatan. "
Ibrahimovic quickly moved to Los Angeles with 11 goals in 14 MLS games.
