Police cordoned off several blocks from the main commercial stretch as the detectives continued their search for evidence. "Anita Nador, who lives a few blocks from where the neighborhood is the area residential closest to downtown and she says that it's a very united community.
People living near Danforth know their neighborhood. Merchants know each other about the dog park or the school of their children
"People think that Toronto is a big city – nobody knows each other, but it's really a series of villages," she says. They all responded with amazement and mistrust to the news, but they were all careful to note that Toronto remains one of the safest North American cities.
"You can not control random acts," Ms. Nador said.
What do we know about the attacker?
Very little. The Toronto police did not name him, nor gave any other details than his age (29 years) and the fact that he was from the city.
Police Chief Saunders told reporters that they still did not know why
