Of course, being the most aerodynamic car has its set of benefits. The key contribution in terms of interest to customers is the low fuel consumption in everyday conditions. The A-Class sedan has been optimized to the smallest detail thanks to a multitude of calculation loops, CAE simulations and measurements in the Sindelfingen wind tunnel. Small steps led to the new record: a reduction of the frontal area despite significantly improved interior comfort, an extensive sealing concept (such as floodlighting) and almost complete underbody panels, which includes the engine bay, the main floor, parts of the rear axle and the diffuser.

The front and rear wheel baffles have been specifically optimized to deliver air around the wheels as efficiently as possible. The wheels and tires have also been aerodynamically adjusted. Depending on the market, a two part shutter system is available as an option behind the grille, minimizing the flow of air into the engine compartment.

Visually, the car has the same diamond grid and LED headlights with LED daytime lights similar to eyebrows. The Mercedes-Benz Class A also comes with a set of 5-spoke (16 to 19-inch) light alloy sport wheels, new stylish ORVs with integrated LED turn signals, a bold waist, a B-pillar blackened and a sloping roofline. The dashboard also features the characteristic chrome air vents of the rotor, a multifunctional steering wheel and a center console in black piano finish.
