PETALING JAYA: The Attorney General (AGC) should withdraw his two charges against Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng when his trial for corruption resumes next week, reports China Press quoting a source.

Lim was the chief minister of Penang when he was charged in 2016 with using his civil service to approve an application for conversion of agricultural land for residential purposes.

He was also charged with buying a bungalow in Phang Li Koon for RM 2.8 million, lower than his market value of RM 4.27 million. Phang was accused of complicity

Lim's trial was adjourned on May 21, pending a review of the charges.

His lawyer Ramkarpal Singh then told the Penang High Court that they were approaching the Attorney General.

Lim was appointed Finance Minister on May 21, after Pakatan Harapan's election victory on May 9.
