Google has introduced new features based on the AI ​​for its G Suite Docs products and e-mail. Google Docs receives AI-based grammar suggestions, while G Suite business emails get smart answers.

The grammar suggestions in Docs are intended to identify and correct spelling and grammar mistakes that inadvertently change the meaning of a sentence. The grammar suggestions will be based on a machine translation approach to recognize errors and suggest corrections on the fly.

"When Docs detects a possible grammatical correction, it will highlight it in blue to indicate that you might want to check it in. You can right-click to see a suggested correction or ignore the alert, and possible grammatical errors will also appear when you run a spelling and grammar check in the Tools menu. "

system was designed to work with several types of corrections, from simple grammatical rules like the use of articles in a sentence (like "a" against "a"), to more complex grammatical concepts such as how to use correctly the subordinate clauses. The goal is that over time the functionality improves through the use of machine learning to increase the range of grammatical problems that are correctly recognized and corrected.

The feature will be built natively in Docs, which makes it potentially more appealing than rival options such as Grammarly's browser extension, which also uses an artificial intelligence system to parse and correct grammar . The grammar checker will be available first for G Suite business accounts, then for all Google Docs users later this year. When used on business accounts, the feature must be enabled by the client's administrator before users can try it.

The fact that the new feature uses a translation-based algorithm distinguishes it from other grammar checkers. Essentially, it offers "correct" translation into English for incorrect English sentences.

David Thacker, vice president of product management for Google Cloud, discussed the new feature in a briefing before Google Cloud Next. used for the translation of the language, a sentence in a language such as French can be translated into English:

Along with the announcement of the grammar checker, Google plans to activate its Smart Compose feature for Gmail for business customers. Smart Compose offers suggestions for completing a sentence depending on the context of your email and will be deployed to G Suite users in the coming weeks.

Smart Compose can fill out welcome messages, signatures and common phrases, as well as inserting custom information like your office or home address. Google says that it will also become smarter over time, for example, by learning how you prefer to greet some people in emails to make sure that when you use Smart Compose you look like yourself.
