We know Realme as a brand associated with the Chinese giant OPPO smartphones, but the first has taken a big step forward and announced its separation from OPPO. After being independent, one of Realme's first goals is to unveil three new devices, including the Realme 2 Pro. We recently traveled to Jakarta, Indonesia, to witness the launch of the smartphone in question at sea, as well as two other devices: the mid-ranger Realme 2 and the entry-level model Realme C1. Fortunately, the MB TechNews team is one of the first in the Philippines to participate in the Realme 2 Pro. Let's see what he has to offer.

While Realme has ended its association with Oppo, the story between two brands remains apparent in the design of Realme 2 Pro. On the outside, especially on the front, it looks exactly like the Oppo F9 with the same dewdrops design and the same 6.3-inch FHD + LCD screen with 2340 x 1080 resolution. produces sharp images in bright colors, which is particularly enjoyable when playing games and viewing images and videos.

The back part of the camera relies on its two main cameras and on a fingerprint sensor which, let's say, unlocks the camera very quickly and smoothly, as does the unlocking function from the face of the smartphone.

In terms of general construction, the Realme 2 Pro is a bit heavy and heavy to the touch, although its back has a metallic finish that gives a high-end feel to the device. We also appreciated the fact that the Realme 2 Pro comes with a dedicated microSD card slot and two SIM card slots on its tray. Therefore, we do not need to sacrifice the expansion of our storage space in case we want a dual SIM card configuration. The tray sits on the left cheek of the smartphone, with its volume flip-flops, while the opposite side rests on the power button. At the bottom are its unique speaker grille, an aging microSD port, a microphone and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Using the Realme 2 Pro as a daily driver has proven just how powerful and powerful internal components are for an affordable midrange device. We have had few cases of delays and delays and we attribute it to the RAM and internal memory of the device. What we had was the ROM model with 8GB RAM + 128GB, which was originally announced as an exclusive variant to Indonesia. Among the other memory and storage options of Realme 2 Pro, which is probably what we will soon have in the Philippines, are the 4GB + 64GB models and the 6GB + 128GB models.

The Realme 2 Pro runs on a 2.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset with the Adreno 512 graphics processor – a decent combination that can run games with rich, heavy graphics like Free Fire, PUBG, Mobile Legends and Tekken with little traces of rough frames. It was also useful for the Realme 2 Pro's speaker to produce sound with minimal distortion, even at high volume.

Like all smartphones ready to seduce young people, the Realme 2 Pro considers its cameras as one of its main selling points. The camera comes with a 16-megapixel camera, f / 1.7 plus a 2 megapixel main camera f / 2.4 with a 16-megapixel f / 2.0 shooter. The three cameras come with an artificial intelligence feature, thus enhancing captured images through machine learning. With AI, the major Realme 2 Pro cameras have scene recognition and automatically adjust the camera settings according to the subject and the environment. It has the usual camera modes, with an AI beautification option for the front camera.

Realme 2 Pro's cameras performed well in well-lit environments. The images we took using this camera resulted in accurate colors with the required sharpness. He also gave us portraits with a natural bokeh effect. Although the device definitely has good cameras when it is used during the day, we have noticed its difficulty when it is used at night. Photos taken in dark places seemed foggy and somehow failed to show the sufficient level of color accuracy and sharpness of detail.

Testing the Realme 2 Pro, we performed a number of benchmarks that the device obtained with acceptable values. The Realme 2 Pro scored 134,248 on AnTuTu, 1,520 for Single-core, 5,568 on Multi-core of GeekBench 4, 1,217 on Slingshot Extreme – OpenGL ES 3.1 and 960 on Slingshot Extreme Vulkan of 3DMark and 7,800 on PC 2.0.

We also appreciated the fact that Color OS 5.2, based on the Android 8.1 operating system of the Realme 2 Pro, is not heavy for everyday use. As for juice, the Realme 2 Pro battery at 3500mAh has achieved a score of 5h20m PCMark Work2 battery life test. However, based on actual usage, said device lasted about 8 hours of medium to heavy use.

Given its advantages and disadvantages, the Realme 2 Pro can be considered as one of the decent choices in its price range. Although local prices and availability have not yet been officially announced, the price of the Realme 2 Pro should start at PhP 10,000, depending on storage and memory configurations.
