KUALA LUMPUR: Claims by former PetroSaudi executive Xavier Justo, which implied that Low Taek Jho’s life could be in danger, will be investigated fully, says Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun.
Police would also look into Justo’s allegation that a team of Bukit Aman officers led by Comm Datuk Seri Amar Singh had forced him to make confessions and sing praises of former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
“I believe he may be referring to the team of investigators who went to Bangkok to record his statement in 2015.
“We are scrutinising all his claims,” he told a press conference after attending a seminar at the Royal Malaysia Police College yesterday.
The Swiss had alleged that he was told by the team to confess publicly that “Najib was the best prime minister”.
However, Comm Amar issued a statement, describing Justo’s remarks as “total nonsense”.
“Our focus of investigations was on the apparent sale/extortion of money for stolen data to third parties with a view to affect the security of the nation.
“Clearly, it can be seen that the aforesaid questions (about Najib being the best PM) supposedly posed by us is not relevant to the investigations at all. It would be silly of us to ask such questions,” Comm Amar said in the statement.
Deputy Home Minister Datuk Azis Jamman, who opened the seminar, said he would leave the matter to the police.
Asked about alleged sabotage within the authorities involved in the Jho Low investigation, Azis said certain information should not be made public as it might jeopardise the probe.
On another matter, the IGP said Bukit Aman had recorded the statement of businessman J. Deepak in connection with the Altantuya Shaariibuu murder case.
Altantuya was murdered in 2006 with her head reportedly shot before her body was blown up with explosives.
“We will also take statements of relevant parties but we have to make appointments to interview them.
“Once our investigation is completed, we will forward the investigation papers to the Deputy Public Prosecutor,” said Mohamad Fuzi.
On Monday at the Dewan Rakyat, Bukit Gelugor MP Ramkarpal Singh urged the Home Ministry to get statements from Najib and his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor in connection with allegations that they were involved in the Altantuya case.
Ramkarpal had said the revelations by Deepak, who was previously said to enjoy good ties with the couple, were uploaded on the Internet recently but the recording of the interview had since been deleted.
