Last martial contract
After another super show yesterday, Anthony Martial was invited to extend his stay at the club.
Encouragingly for the fans, Jose Mourinho hopes that Martial will commit his long-term future to United and think that the Frenchman is about to become a "leading player".
"I'm not part of the contract discussions," said Mourinho. "To be honest, I do not even know their contracts in terms of numbers and I'm really happy with that, not to participate in these kinds of discussions.
"Obviously, I hope that they will agree. Obviously I hope. One thing is that he is a talented player that everyone knows he is, everyone knows since his arrival in Monaco that he is a talented player. Another thing is a talented player with consistency and an understanding of what a football game is all about.
"When you reach this level, or when you reach almost this level, you become a leading player. One thing is top talent, another is a top player. He is now much closer to being a top player.
"Obviously, I'd like it to stay. I know the club wants it to stay. I hope that he will stay.
