KUCHING: Sarawak should not be misled by some evidence that the federal government left it out in the 2019 national budget.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook said that despite the country's poor financial situation, the budget presented by Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng included all sectors and all layers of society .

"When we tabled the budget, politicians and members of the Sarawak government continued to attack us for two days in the press, claiming that we were not taking care of Sarawak, unlike the former prime minister. Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, who mentioned Sarawak and Sabah. several times in his speech.

"But I would like to remind the leaders of the former Barisan Nasional (BN) of Sarawak not to forget the reason why we find ourselves in this very difficult financial situation today, due to the mismanagement of the Fund and scandal of the 1MDB during Najib's presidency, "he said at the ceremony yesterday at the 18th DAP Sarawak Convention in Crown Square.

He added that Sarawak politicians had also blamed the federal government for allocating only RM 3446 billion to Sarawak, a mere increase of RM 10 million from the previous year's budget. Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas).

"These 30 billion RM are not used for any other expenses, but the reimbursement of Malaysian taxpayers for the GST and tax returns totaling 34 billion RM, and I am sure that a large part of this amount also belongs to the taxpayers of Sarawakian.

"The RM 30 billion can not be used for development expenses because we have to pay back the GST and the tax returns, which were used by the Najib administration in the past, but did not pay the taxpayer money. ", did he declare.

He assured that the government is committed to ensuring that all members of the country's taxpayers are returned in 2019.

In his speech, Mr. Loke said that the newly elected DAP Sarawak 2018-2020 Committee, which saw Chong Chieng Jen re-elected as president, would face a daunting task in the upcoming Sarawak elections.

"However, our mission is clear: to capture Sarawak and form the Sarapak Harapan (PH) Pakistani government."

The national secretary in charge of the DAP organization said that although the DAP Sarawak could have an additional advantage in the election because the PH belonged to the federal government, this did not mean that the party would misuse his resources to participate in his campaign.

"What we can help our comrades in Sarawak is that all members of the federal government will work hard to change our policies … in order to implement good policies and prove to Sarawak voters that we can become a better government.

"We will put in place better governance and develop the country more gradually, so we will help our Sarawak comrades to conquer the voters of Sarawak in the next elections."
