There are many reasons why everyone is excited about the Galaxy S10, Samsung's 10th anniversary. In particular, the leak triple rear cameras, Ultrasonic display reader, New gradient color schemes and Option 5G. Even Samsung is boast of the Galaxy S10. But now, there is news that will be a bad surprise for many …
"Great Secret Features" and "Nasty Surprises" are my usual chronicles about the best features / biggest issues hidden behind the headlines.
Escape by Ice UniverseWe believe that the Galaxy S10 will no longer try to compete with the iPhone's popular face recognition system. In fact, Samsung seems to completely abandon facial recognition.
"The S10 cancels the sensor from the iris," States Ice universe. Why? Because Samsung believes that "the ultrasonic fingerprint [sensor] is enough to replace it. "
Justifying this movement, Ice Universe Explain The Galaxy S10's ultrasonic fingerprint sensor is unlike any other fingerprint reader built into the previous screen. It is both "faster and has a larger recognition area": up to 30% of the screen responds to the user's fingerprint.
It is indeed significant. Since readers in the display do not have a physical background, they can not be opened with a combination of feeling and muscle memory. But being able to touch anywhere on the bottom third of the Galaxy S10's screen to unlock the phone would change that.
Nevertheless, this does not completely replace an iris scanner.
Just as Apple's decision to remove Touch ID on the iPhone and iPad ranges, leaving users with more time for unlocking fingerprints (for example, during a meeting on the phone or when wearing sunglasses), removing the recognition of the Galaxy S10's iris causes problems (such as when wearing gloves).
In addition, Samsung's decision to support both technologies was a separate selling point for Galaxy phones on the iPhone. And with reports previously suggesting that Samsung was about to a technological breakthrough which could have matched the quality of Face ID, it is a shame to see the company give less choice to its owners.
So, why does Samsung do it?
It is believed that this decision stems from the company's desire to give the Galaxy S10 a screen virtually without glasses. Chinese manufacturers such as Oppo, Vivo, Xiaomi and Lenovo have achieved this goal through various design innovations. And with Samsung's latest financial results lose to his Chinese rivalsin particular, the company has to face the competition.
This is not the only compromise of the Galaxy S10.
Samsung is also widely expected to remove the headphone jack Galaxy S10 to welcome all its technological innovations. Most competitors have already done so, but Samsung has long been praised for its stubbornness and even used it as a marketing point.
So, yes, the Galaxy S10 probably looks like the most radical upgrade in Samsung's smartphone history. But this flagship product of the 10th anniversary will also feature controversial compromises as part of the deal …
