JOHOR BARU: Police will only take additional statements from Swiss banker-turned-whistleblower Xavier Justo if it is necessary.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun said the ongoing investigation on Justo’s statements is currently being done on an “initial investigation” basis.
“We will look into the previous report which is based on the investigation that had been carried out.
“If there is anything new, then we will consider calling him in for questioning,” he said.
He added that the police also would have to arrange an appointment with the former PetroSaudi executive if any statement was needed.
“We have to make an appointment according to his time, suitability and consent from him.
“If he is in the country, then we might consider it if it is necessary,” he added.
Last week, Justo in an interview, made several statement, including implying that fugitive businessman Low Taek Jho’s life could be in danger, and that he was asked to say that Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak was a “good Prime Minister” while imprisoned in Thailand.
In another matter, Mohamad Fuzi said that the police are currently looking into the cases of international students “disappearing” from colleges.
“We are closely monitoring this issue because some of them had misused their student visa to come here.
“Instead of studying, they are involved in criminal activities such as the Macau scam or prostitution,” he said.
He added that the police will ensure that every foreigner that enters the country is not involved in any dangerous activities, especially terrorism.
A local newspaper recently reported that at least 1,000 Bangladeshi students have gone “missing” in phases since 2015.
